Actually, "no."  Just because you've turned off your game console and HD TV, it doesn't mean that they're not still consuming electricity.  If you *really* want to turn them off, you have to plug them into a switchable power strip -- like this St Mary School family does -- and then flip the power strip's switch to the "off" position.  If you did this for all your home's electronics (ie: TVs, game consoles, battery chargers, coffee makers, etc...) you could reduce your annual electric bill by 5 - 6 percent!
