In 2012, five schools were invited to take part in an innovative and exciting new pilot program from ComEd called the Earth Month Challenge. This Challenge was built around a contest that awarded points for students and families that completed energy-related tasks.  Each school and its participating students competed against four other selected schools and earned points during the month of April, 2012.

STUDENTS HELPED THEIR SCHOOL EARN POINTS IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:
  • By turning in a signed Earth Month Challenge Pledge form
  • By helping their parent/guardian use less electricity at home*
  • By completing each task or extra credit activity on each weekly Challenge Sheet and submitting these signed sheets every Friday when they were due
  • By having their parent/guardian post photos or videos or comments about their energy-saving activities to social media or by having them send these items to EMC@ComEd.com for posting to the blog section of this Web site

The Earth Month Challenge was a great way to make learning about energy efficiency fun!
Plus, the school with the highest ranking at the end of the contest won a $5,000 Grand Prize from ComEd! **

*Required a signed pledge card with a ComEd account number. Household had to reside within ComEd’s service territory.
**At least 5,000 points needed to be earned for a school to be eligible for a prize.
