This fridge might like the sun, but keeping a fridge in a hot garage or next to a window where the sunlight can hit it can make it work harder to keep its contents cool. That means it'll use more electricity. If you've got a second, working fridge sitting in your garage, call ComEd. They'll pick it up for FREE and give you $50 per unit (but only 'til May 31). Then we'll recycle it so the oils and refrigerants are captured and the materials recycled. Read more about it here. Thanks for helping bring this issue to light, Annie! St Mary School.
Did you know that a fully stocked refrigerator can actually be more energy efficient than a sparsely stocked one? That's because it takes more energy to keep air at a constantly cold temperature than it does to keep food objects at the same temperature. Nice job, St Mary School!
Amy from St Mary School sent us the most beautiful princess fairy refrigerator we have *ever* seen! Wow!! I think Amy could be a Disney animator!
Hayley from St Mary School submitted this beautiful angel fridge! I bet it doesn't contain any "bad for you" food! Thanks, Hayley!
I've heard of old fridges being described as "energy hogs," but an "energy puppy?" (Hurry, I think he needs to be let out into the yard!) Hanson Park School.
Aaah! A mysterious fridge! I've heard of "mystery meat" left in a fridge, but this is crazy! Thanks, Anahi, Hanson Park School.
